‘Mind the gap between the platform and the train!’

Anyone travelling the London underground will have heard that announcement.

In Kisumu, there are several organisations doing an excellent job of reunification. That is reuniting at-risk children with their families.

The last thing that we want to do is duplicate what others are already doing. And doing well. It’s a waste of valuable resources.

We mind the gap!

You see, when we reveal the gap, we find the need.

In Kisumu Children’s Remand Home (KCRH), there’s a BIG gap!

Last year, 23% of children exiting the home passed through a reintegration programme. An individual plan designed to prepare the child and family for home.

23%, that’s good, isn’t it? Even getting one child home (and staying home) is a success!

But what about the 65% that didn’t? That’s the gap. There’s the need!

These are children who do not meet the criteria of other organisations.

This year, our goal is to meet this need. To see the restoration and reunification of families. Empowering them to love and care for each other.
