love flows through people, not projects
Working with hearts fuelled by love is critical to our success.
Team 61 is a special group of people working selflessly to see the love of God liberate and transform others.
As a global community of like-hearted individuals, we’d love to hear from you and explore ways that you can share the love of God with us.

Jacob Ngota
Spiritual Care Co-ordinator
Jacob is our very first chaplain. Most of the time, you will find him at the Remand Home in Kisumu, where he builds relationships with the children, gains their trust, and provides essential prayer and spiritual guidance. Jacob is married and the father of three children. He has a passion for the children to know the love and parenting of God as Father.
Jacob has a powerful and moving testimony of God’s divine intervention in his life, one that saved him from the brink of death …

Carolyne nanjala
Welfare Co-ordinator
We’ve known Carolyne since 2011 when she was a college student. Having worked with her in the past, we have seen first-hand the love that fuels her and overflows from her heart. So, when we heard that she was available to work with us again, we seized the opportunity and asked her to join us.
Seeing children lacking the parental love that they need stirs Carolyne powerfully. She works tirelessly to get them back home where, with healed hearts, they can receive that love.
Carolyne is wife to Tony and they have two wonderful children of their own, Cheryl and Adrian.

Steve Aloyo
Creative Lead
Steve is a talented artist. He is full of enthusiasm and eager to learn and help others. Through his creativity and artwork, he helps the children connect with their emotions and share their stories, opening the door to inner freedom.
Steve’s life story parallels that of the children; having experienced much of what they are facing, he is an instant hit, connecting and effectively communicating with them.
Steve is a model of hope and a source of inspiration.

Derek & Penny Oliver
Founders
Derek & Penny are missionaries to Kenya, where they have lived for thirteen years. They desire to introduce others to the arms-wide-open love of God, the good and perfect Father of all.
Derek and Penny supervised the day-to-day running of a children’s home in Kakamega, Western Kenya, for three years. During this time, they saw the damage and brokenness caused to children and families through separation, especially long-term institutionalisation.
Now, through the work of Route 61, they advocate for children separated from family and promote reconciliation.
Derek & Penny do not receive payment for their work and rely upon the generosity of others for all their financial income. You can support Derek & Penny with a regular monthly or a single one-off donation by clicking the button below:
